“I don't know what you do to these clubs, but, man, they are good!!!!! Thanks again. I have taken them to the McGolf range in Dedham the last two days and they are great. I really have to focus on releasing the driver because there is NO left in this driver- it really wants to go right unless it gets an aggressive release. I know I was skeptical about the TEE 4 wood and the face progression, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I will get over that quick because it feels very, very good. So far, results are very good with the TEE. I am actually much more consistent with it than the driver; I have held on to the driver out of fear of hooking it but I have to get used to just letting it go. “Good Morning Frank,”

“I was able to get 8 holes in yesterday before the lightning came and forced me off the course. I'm starting to get the swing down with the irons and the driver shaft may have changed my life. With my old shafts, my swing had to be absolutely perfect, I had to focus on turning my hands over the exact right amount. Now I just have to put my natural swing on the ball and it rockets straight out with a baby draw as it come back to earth.”

“The 4th hole on the Milton 9 is a 514 yd Par 5 with two fairways. The first fairway ends around 310 yds from the tee and the next one starts another 30 yards after that. I brought 3 balls up to the tee and hit them into a fairly stiff wind. The first one rockets out with the soon to be new trademark off the tee, baby draw. The second I hit perfectly straight with a slight pull, ends up 15-20 yds to the left of #1. The third one, I caught a tiny bit towards the heel and it went out with a tiny fade but ends up about 3 yds to the left of #1. I use the GPS on the cart and on my phone to get a distance, all three were sitting about 10-15 yds from the end of the fairway, about 290 from the tee. All three had plug marks right next to the ball but that is to be expected as the course was very wet. With the wind in my face, I know exactly where I would have been be with my old gamer, the Callaway 454 with the V2, about 30 yards behind this spot. The dispersion with the shaft is absolutely amazing and the lower boring flight is absolutely perfect for me.”

“Back to the rest of the hole. I am left with 215-220 to the pin (middle) with the same wind in my face. This shot used to be a 5i for me with no wind or a slight tail wind. I pulled out the 5i as I would likely reach for the 6i from this distance with no wind with my new setup. I don't think I could have stuck the ball better. The ball shoots out but my first thought is "Ah $#!&, the wind is going to slap it in the face and i'll be left with a 60yd pitch shot". I walk back to the cart and head up to where I think the ball will be, no there it is up maybe 5-10 yards short and to the left of the green. I couldn't believe the ball was able to fight through the wind and make it up that close. I hit a beautiful little pitch that hopped and stopped about 4 ft from the pin and tapped in for my birdie to get me back to even par (after I three putted #1 for a bogey).”

“I proceeded to miss semi makable birdie putts on 5 (12 footer) ,7 (15 footer) and 8 (10 footer) and bogey the par 3 6th to get to +1 after 8 when the lightning came and forced me off the course.”

“Coming from the Dallas area, I found that it was difficult to find a reputable clubfitter who gave me the truth about my swing and would present me with options that would improve my game. I’ve looked for fifteen years. So I visited Frank Viola in Saugus, MA to find the truth – because Frank leaves no stone unturned when it comes to telling it like it is, albeit in a diplomatic manner.”

“My irons, although state of the art, were fitted by a clubmaker near Dallas. When I purchased them, I was initially troubled by the heavy shaft, flex, and swing weight. My former club guy told me to hit them and said I’d eventually like them. That time never arrived, which is a major reason I was now at Frank’s place.”

“After warming up in Frank’s shop, I took several swings on the launch monitor as Frank looked on. After reviewing my swing and the results on the monitor, he commented, “please don’t take offense, but those clubs are too heavy, too long, and too strong of a flex for you.” I put aside my ego and agreed.”

“We spent the morning on the monitor changing club heads and trying various steel and graphite shafts to see what worked for my game. Frank was patient and analytical. We also tried different golf balls to optimize distance, spin, and dispersion.”

“After finding a combo that worked best (longer and less dispersion), Frank fit the shaft flex, length, and grip to my swing and we saw the results in the monitor. We had obtained 7 additional mph in swing speed and about 15 additional yards over my current irons. I also did not like the look of my Super Game Improvement Irons – they seemed like hammers – and since my contact was center face, we opted for the Miura PP-9003 irons with Aerotech i80 shafts. My love affair with the Miuras grew the more I swung them that morning – the offset was well hidden and it didn’t look like a hammer, yet it was forgiving. The sole also made it more playable to my normal conditions – tighter lies, and it felt as if it belonged in my hands.”

“After Frank adjusted the club to my lie angle, we were ready to fit hybrids. Once again, we found the shaft was not as consistent or long as an Aerotech Hybrid Shaft. Although Frank could have added to his bank account by selling me a club, he said, “You seem to like that club and hit it center-face, so why not just change the shaft?” And that’s what we did.”

“The morning ended with a driver fitting. Frank helped me gain 5 additional mph with a more traditional length (45 inches) driver, a better shaft, a fitted grip, and a better club head for me. I also noticed the ball flight was more urgent – got up and flattened - instead of loopy. Hitting the driver outside confirmed our findings.”

“I went to the range both days this weekend to put the new sticks through the ringer and I'm in love! I'm absolutely killing the driver and the irons are ridiculously consistent. Can't wait until I'm fully dialed in with these puppies. The irons are definitely flying longer too, especially in the longer irons (3 through 7 iron), where there's a big difference from my old set. I couldn't be happier and can't wait until I get my distances down so we can fill out the rest of set. Looks like I'll only need one wood (maybe a 4 wood or a weak 3 wood) and the rest wedges. I'll need it since most wedge shots were flying 145-150 yards! ”

“As a self confessed tech-weenie, I am very particular about my clubs. My last set was purchased from Hot Stix out in Arizona. When it was time to purchase new clubs, I was about to purchase an airline ticket to head back out to Hot Stix. However, I decided to do some research and found Frank Viola & Ace of Clubs. The fact that Frank was based in Massachusetts had me a little worried. How can a guy that lives in a state that doesn’t have year around golf know anything about club fitting? None the less, not having to get on a plane did have plenty of appeal so I decided set up a meeting with Frank. Upon meeting Frank and seeing his work shop and hitting bay technology, I became more comfortable with my decision and set up a fitting. By mid way through the fitting, I knew I had found my guy. “I had purchased a tour-issue Taylormade Superfast and was not getting the results I expected. Distance was great, but all my shots were serious fades to even slices. The specs I was given on the head didn't seem to match the ball flight and I struggled to control this driver, even with my favorite shaft! I searched and finally found Ace of Clubs, which is really the only place where I could get custom metal-wood bending for my Superfast driver. Frank was very professional and extremely knowledgeable when I talked with him. I sent him my driver with the exact specs I wanted and it came back dead on! The cosmetic results were excellent also as there is usually paint damage or heat marks from the bending process. I'm finally hitting this driver the way I wanted to from the beginning...straight balls to high draws and I love it! “I have been an avid golfer for over 35 years.
